It’s been ten years since Ifeanyi Anidi completed his 14-month Steppingstone Program, but hard work, determination and The Steppingstone Foundation are still at the forefront of his mind: “I can never say enough of how appreciative I am to be a part of Steppingstone. This program was not only instrumental in my acceptance into an independent school, but it also helped me with the college process and various non-academic opportunities such as helping me secure a summer job.”

From Steppingstone to Roxbury Latin School and then on to Yale, Ifeanyi has worked toward success in a number of areas. At Yale, he was selected to be Co-Chair of the St. Thomas More Undergraduate Council and became the Treasurer for the Yale African Student Association. He was also chosen to be a recipient of the Mellon-Mays/Bouchet Fellowship. Armed with the Steppingstone standard of commitment and perseverance, Ifeanyi has excelled, receiving the Winston T. Townsend English Prize as a freshman and graduating magna cum laude (with one of the top five GPAs among African American students).

Now that he has completed his time at Yale, Ifeanyi is headed to John Hopkins University to pursue a M.D./PhD program in Microbiology. When reflecting about his recent graduation, the support and presence of his family was a highlight, “What was awesome about that graduation weekend was that my parents, brothers and sister were all there for every ceremony, cheering me on loudly throughout the entire time.” Education and family are important to the Anidi family; Ifeanyi shares his Steppingstone experience with three siblings, two of which have completed the program and one who is currently attending Roxbury Latin. With his drive, ambition and the support of his family, there is no doubt that Ifeanyi will go far, perhaps as even as far as Africa where he hopes to spend time as a medical student.
