CSA Administrative Internship

Position Overview

The summer administrative internship at College Success Academy (CSA) provides a talented college student or graduate with an opportunity to learn about careers in education and the non-profit sector. This six-week internship grants significant exposure to different facets of Steppingstone programs, specifically non-curricular and administrative support. The administrative intern will join a dynamic team of staff, faculty, and program interns to execute the logistical components of the College Success Academy’s summer program.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent administrative, organizational, and computer skills, as well as outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. We are seeking self-starters who bring experience working with adolescent youth. The intern will have the opportunity to interact with Scholars and learn from knowledgeable staff. Interns meet regularly with the Internship Coordinators and participate in select seminars on various education topics, relevant to interns’ interests.

Eligible candidates should have completed at least two years of college by the start of the internship. 


  • Set up and manage main office operations for the summer program, including, but not limited to, maintaining daily attendance records, maintaining and organizing program materials, ensuring that site procedures are followed according to program policies, and communicating with families, Scholars, and staff
  • Supervise arrival, dismissal, snack, and recreational periods
  • Ride the school bus to and from program with Scholars, monitoring bus behavior and safety
  • Assist in supervising daily study hall
  • Co-teach an elective class for Scholars
  • Attend weekly faculty meetings
  • Meet weekly with Internship Coordinator and attend select weekly seminars
  • Reflect on summer experience in writing and through conversations with Coordinator and other interns


  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and college access
  • Effective project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent cross-cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience working with middle school youth
  • Strong interpersonal, phone communication, and writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills (experience with Microsoft Office and Google Apps preferred)
  • Preference given to candidates who are bilingual Spanish speakers


Steppingstone summer session classes meet Monday through Friday for six weeks from July 5 through August 11. This commitment will also include orientation days in June. Interns will be paid a stipend of $2,800 and an additional stipend of $250 for bus duty. Housing is not included.
