The Steppingstone Academy

Teaching opportunities in ELA and math for grades 5 and 6. Classes will be held at Boston Latin Academy in Dorchester.

Class Schedule
September – December:

  • Wednesdays from 4:15-6:45 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

January – May:

  • Wednesdays from 4:15 -6:45 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.

College Success Academy

Teaching opportunities in English and math/science for grades 5 and 6.

Class Schedule
Tuesdays and Thursdays at:

  • Edison K-8 School, Brighton: 2:15 – 5:45 p.m.
  • McKay K-8 School, East Boston: 2:15 – 5:45 p.m.

In addition, there will be approximately 6 faculty meetings outside of these hours.

Qualifications

Candidates must have teaching experience, a strong background in their subject area, experience differentiating classroom instruction, and an interest in working with diverse populations. Independent school or Boston Public Schools teaching experience is preferred. Graduate students will be considered; undergraduate degree is required for summer teachers; undergraduate students in a teacher-training program may be considered for the academic year. Certification is not required.

Teachers must commit to teach for the entire academic year (September through May).

If accepted for an interview, candidates will be asked to prepare a 10-minute mini-lesson in the subject area they wish to teach. The lesson should be designed with students in the middle grades in mind. Candidates will be asked to teach their lesson during the interview.
