Letter from the President

Kelly_2013SteppingStoneGala070Thank you for visiting The Steppingstone Foundation’s website. If you are just beginning to learn about the ways in which we prepare schoolchildren from historically marginalized communities for college success, we hope you find the information we share on this site both helpful and illuminating. If you happen to be a Steppingstone Scholar or the teacher or parent or guardian of a current or prospective Scholar, we invite you to discover what The Steppingstone Academy and the College Success Academy have to offer.

We could never accomplish all that we do without the expertise of our teachers or the commitment of our partner schools. And because we are entirely privately funded, our donors are also essential partners in our work. We thank them all and invite you to learn more about donors on various pages on this site.

Since 1990, Steppingstone has set 1,805 students from historically marginalized communities on the path to college. We have launched affiliate programs in Hartford and Philadelphia. And through the National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA) we continue to broaden and smooth that pathway to college for urban students and the organizations that serve them across the country. Thirty years of experience, as well as unrivaled results, have done nothing to diminish our ambitions or our commitment to improving educational opportunities and outcomes for the students we serve. We are innovators, educators, change-makers. We thank you for wanting to learn more about our mission and our work, and we invite you to join us and support it.
