NPEA Academic Year Intern

NPEA Overview: Launched in late 2007, NPEA is a growing membership organization for programs and schools committed to increasing educational opportunities for motivated underserved students across the United States. Member organizations provide underrepresented students with academic preparation, placement services and counseling, and ongoing support to ensure enrollment at and graduation from four-year colleges. Above all, member organizations share a commitment to educational access and opportunity, and believe high-quality education is a right and not a privilege.

Intern Responsibilities

Member Services, Outreach, and Research

Assist staff with activities that will grow and expand NPEA services. Activities include:

  • Member recruitment, renewal and application processing, outreach
  • Compiling and sharing of best practices with members
  • Gathering current research, articles, and news in the field of educational access to share with members
  • Database management and data entry, including tracking member fees and invoicing
  • Project support for NPEA Data Counts project
  • Assist with regional event planning, monthly webinars, and other membership activities
  • Development/posting of social media and communications content

Conference Planning

Assist staff with national conference planning. NPEA will hold its tenth annual conference in April 2018 in New Orleans, LA. Activities include:

  • Conference logistics and preparation of materials
  • Outreach and marketing support
  • Sponsorship/fundraising outreach
  • Participation in planning calls (note-taking, preparation, communication with participants)

Details

This is an unpaid part-time (2-3 days a week) internship/field placement position from September-May (can also be semester to semester). The ideal intern is responsible, detail-oriented, computer savvy, and has strong written and verbal skills. Interest in nonprofits, project management, education, and educational equity is important.
