“I strongly believe in the value of education, so I wanted to be able to tutor students and support them on their way to college.”

Jillian reflects on her experience tutoring Scholars:

I have really enjoyed working with all of the different grade levels of College Success Academy Scholars in both their classes and study halls. I strongly believe in the value of education, so I wanted to be able to tutor students and support them on their way to college. The best moments are when I’m working with a student on homework and see him or her finally be able to understand a concept after working hard to make sense of it.

The Power of One: Triumph is a great finish to the Power of One theme throughout the year. The previous themes (like The Power of One: Mentor and The Power of One: Obstacle) are steps along the way to Scholars finally reaching triumph in various aspects of their lives. I hope that as a tutor I have been able to help Scholars reach that point of triumph. The College Success Academy is a great way to provide academic support for students, and to add more learning and structure to their days to help them prepare for high school and college.
