“They may not know it now, but the Scholars have really made me a better person. I try to be what they want me to be, and we are both there for a main purpose: to learn and grown.”

Margaret reflects on her experience tutoring Scholars:

I have really enjoyed the tutoring experience so far. I love the ability to interact with children, but I didn’t expect to be so emotionally attached to the Scholars as I am now. I always considered going into the education field and working at this program really solidified why I want to pursue such a career. I see students from all different backgrounds and I like the challenge of having to adapt to the style of learning that will benefit both of us. They may not know it now, but the Scholars have really made me a better person. I try to be what they want me to be, and we are both there for a main purpose: to learn and grown.

College, for me, was a guarantee no matter what, but not everyone has the same opportunities I was fortunate enough to have. CSA is important because it sets Scholars up for success. There are so many resources through this program that expose Scholars to a rich scholastic environment. They are positively reinforced every day that YES they will go to college! YES they will graduate! and YES they will get a job! Establishing this goal early in life will shape how they make all other decisions that will benefit their ultimate goal of graduating from college.
