Program Highlights

home-teasers_class 10 mayIn 1990, Steppingstone was a small startup, with the capacity to serve just a handful of students throughout Boston. Only 14 Scholars were admitted into our tiny first class. Over the past 25 years, Steppingstone’s reach, and your impact, has grown exponentially. We now serve more than 1,600 Scholars every year. And we’ve greatly increased the number of resources we can offer each student and family.

Our commitment to each Scholar lasts more than ten years. In that decade of support, they access services like these.

2014 was a banner year at Steppingstone, for more reasons than we can possibly list here. A few highlights:

– The College Success Academy prepared to expand to its newest site in East Boston. The first cohort of East Boston Scholars will take classes at Milton Academy this summer.

– With the support or donors and community members, Steppingstone made substantial additions to its workforce development program. Opportunities included career panels where Scholars and Alumni heard from leaders in medicine and law, workshops on topics like résumé building and personal finance, and high-quality internship opportunities.

– Our College Services Department [Link to edited page – newsletter content] (founded in 2011 to ensure Scholars not only enroll in college, but thrive and graduate), had an exceptional year. The small team met with Scholars on 14 college campuses; sent more than 80 care packages to freshman; planned their most ambitious Winter Break program yet; and welcomed four Scholars as communications interns over the summer.
