Jen Zolot

Since 2008, Jen Zolot has been a valued part of the Steppingstone community. She participates in so many ways: as a writing teacher with The Steppingstone Academy, an ELA teacher with the College Success Academy, a mentor to high-school aged Scholars, and an English and humanities curriculum developer. Why has Jen spent so much time at Steppingstone?

“Teaching and volunteering here has been an opportunity to support Scholars throughout their academic journeys. Through my years of involvement, I’ve seen former students return to take on leadership roles and tutor younger Scholars. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their academic and personal growth.”

Through her career, Jen has taught middle school English in Dorchester and Lexington, adult ESL at Pine Manor College, and she has mentored middle school students in Roxbury through the Promising Pals program. She has an MFA in writing for children and young adults and is currently writing a children’s book.

For Jen, Steppingstone has been a place to develop her skills as a teacher and work with like-minded professionals. “At Steppingstone, there is a culture of collaboration, innovation, and reflection that has helped me improve my practice. Teachers come to Steppingstone with a range of professional experiences, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know my colleagues and sharing resources and ideas.” With her extensive experience, Jen has certainly contributed to others’ growth as well, and we are grateful for all that she has done for the Steppingstone community.
